Tipsport Malta Cup 2024 has revealed the participants of the tournament

SK Sigma Olomouc, FC Hradec Králové, FC Spartak Trnava and FK Austria Vienna are the participants of the 6th annual international football tournament, organized by Tipsport in cooperation with the Maltese Football Association, on the Mediterranean island from January 8 to 15, 2024 Two Czech clubs, one Slovak team and once again a representative of Austrian football will complete a preparatory camp with quality matches in excellent conditions, which prevail in Malta even in winter.

Former Sparta Prague and Austria Vienna player Tomáš Jun becomes the patron of the Tipsport Malta Cup 2024 tournament, the legendary Antonín Panenka, a former player of Austria's biggest rival Rapid Vienna, also added a comment on Austrian football during the press conference.

Tomas, do you have any other teammates in the team?

It's been a long time since I played there, but I have friends there in the management, even among the players who were still very young then and are now among the experienced fighters. I was pleased with Tipsport's offer to become a tournament sponsor. I am in contact with Austria, he knows about me and I am really looking forward to it.

What chances do you give Austria at the tournament in competition with Hradec, Olomouc and Trnava?

They will be balanced matches, in the earlier years Austria was stronger, now they have their problems, they don't manage to take a look at the cups, they won the last title when I played there. Probably the biggest problem is finances, they play with young people who don't have that much experience yet. But they have skilful young players with great potential. I expect an interesting meeting and confrontation between Austrian, Czech and Slovak football.

And how does the Viennese club see the legend of its biggest rival Rapid Antonín Panenka?

I was pleased to see the Austrian team at the tournament, even if it is not Rapid but Austria, which is actually the biggest enemy of Rapid fans. But I had good relations with Austria, our boys Láďa Borovička and Libor Radimec played there already in my era. The top of the Austrian league is similar to ours, it will be interesting matches, I will like to watch it. But it's still preparation, the coaches will try, it will depend on how the players approach it, so it's hard to pick a favorite, but I'm rooting for Austria.
