Tipsport Malta Cup 2023 football tournament for the first time with six teams

At a press conference in Prague, the organizers presented the participants and the program of the 5th edition of the Tipsport Malta Cup, an international football tournament in Mediterranean Malta. It is organized by Tipsport in the smallest country of the European Union in cooperation with the Maltese tourist center Visit Malta, the agency Q Media Ltd. and the Malta Football Association. The jubilee year of the tournament will take place from January 9 to 19, 2023.

Czech teams fly to Malta from Liberec and Zlín The preparatory camp and the entire tournament will have the best cast in its history so far. Compared to the previous year, the organizers increased the number of teams from 4 to 6. The Czech Republic will send FC Slovan Liberec and FC Trinity Zlín, a traditional participant in the European Cups, to the tournament, led by former Juventus Turin player Zdeněk Grygera as sports manager. Two top clubs FC Spartak Trnava and AS Trenčín will fly from Slovakia. The first division club WSG Tirol will be heading to Malta from Austria for the third time, and this year the representative of German football, the second division SV Sandhausen, will also be participating for the first time.

Tipsport gives a chance to other partner clubs Defending champion Olomouc will not start in Malta, on the contrary, Liberec and Zlín will play the preparatory tournament for the first time, which at the end of autumn, as the penultimate team of the Czech league, hired experienced coach Pavel Vrba. "We wanted to offer the possibility of participation to other clubs, where we have newly entered as a partnership, either as a general or main partner. We also do not want to neglect Slovakia, where we have also become number one in betting and we have great ambitions on the market there. With the number of six participants, we are currently at the ceiling of the possibilities that exist in Malta, especially from the point of view of training areas," said Lubomír Ježek from Tipsport at the press conference. Helmut Amhof from the organizing agency answered questions about the current state of playing areas and climatic conditions at the online press conference from Malta. "Current the conditions are ideal, with temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius and the pitches in excellent condition at both stadiums where the tournament will take place - the Ta Qali National Stadium and the Tony Bezzina Stadium."

Football from Malta live on ČT Sport, RTVS Šport and TV Tipsport The duration of the tournament and the preparatory camp was extended to ten days at the request of the football clubs. "The matches will take place in two basic groups of three teams each. According to the overall position in the table, in addition to the final match, the teams will also play a match for third and fifth place. "We guarantee to the participating clubs that, in addition to a substantial training session on the well-prepared local training grounds, they will play three full-fledged matches with an international cast," outlines the new game format of the tournament, head of communications at Tipsport Václav Sochor. Selected matches will be broadcast live by ČT Sport, RTVS Šport, all matches from Malta will be broadcast live by Tipsport on TV Tipsport, the largest internet sports television in our country.
