Tipsport Cup in Malta won by Sigma

The 6th edition of the Tipsport Malta Cup was won by SK Sigma Olomouc. It was a close victory, as three clubs scored the same number of points. The second place after the draw belongs to the Austrian team FK Austria Vienna, FC Hradec Králové finally takes home the bronze trophy from Malta. Spartak Trnava will not be satisfied with the fourth place without any points.

 Before the last matchday of the international Tipsport Malta Cup, which took place at the Tony Bezzin Stadium, three teams could win the trophy, made in the Czech glassworks Rückl Nižbor: Hradec Králové, Olomouc and Austria. Hradec Králové fulfilled its role in the first match of the final day, defeated Trnava 2-1 and got to the first place with 5 points for a few hours. The duel between two four-point teams Sigma and Austria was decisive. The match brought solid football and chances, but no one managed to score a goal. In the end, the goalless draw was enough for Olomouc to win the tournament, as they had the best overall score with 5 points. Hradec Králové and Austria had the same score, so the draw had to decide. The coin from the hand of the tournament promoter Helmut Amhof favoured Austria, which finished in 2nd place, the cup for 3rd place went to Hradec Králové.
